In the late 1920s, a group of young South African students went to study at the universities of Berlin, Liepzig and Hamburg in Germany, among these one Hendrik Fresch Verwoerd. There they were inspired by the concept of “national socialism” more commonly termed “Nazi-ism” and this gentlemen went on to become known as the notorious “principal architect of Apartheid” in South Africa, drawing heavily on the ideas of his university years, and assisted by some of his old “college pals”. Jesus invites us to an amazing exchange. We give him the burdensome “rocks” of our struggles, and He gives us the weight of His Holy Spirit instead. He carries our heavy load, and we carry His Presence and the weight of glorious destiny and purpose in life.
It’s basically a really good deal. Continue reading
Gal 3:27 “for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” Rom 13:14 “Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ” Luke 24:49 “stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

You should wear white. Put on the garment of Christ’s righteousness that gives you confidence of the Father’s favor and enormous love for you. Take off your own dirty clothes, put away your past. Your sin and failures don’t define you if you “put on Christ”. His righteousness and glorious victory define you. Christ’s destiny becomes your destiny. Continue reading
Ps 34:5 “Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”
As we turn the eyes of our hearts to the Father’s face, we see Him beaming brilliant love and glorious hope on us, and so the glow on our lives increases and becomes radiance to a dark world. Continue reading
Ps 33:18-20 “the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him…we wait in hope for the Lord.”
The Father always attentively watches His children, but we’re often not looking back. Waiting on God is meeting His eye with the gaze of our hearts, and experiencing moments of glorious communication, often without words, but rich in love, safety, purpose and peace.
This waiting is the essence of prayer.
