In order to realize and become one’s vision, you have to give it up—or at least be willing to let God do something else with it. God often reaffirms the vision, once that willingness to let go is present. In other words, detachment from our vision is an important factor in reaching it.
It is not our idea of it that achieves it. Rather our idea hinders it.
The freedom to accept reality as it is and as it happens seems to be the primary transforming experience of the spiritual journey.
From Thomas Keating, “Consenting to God as God Is”
This is a great post Rob and very true. Our ideas of achievement hinder what God wants to do because we see in the mirror dimly
